Jeremy Doku returns to Belgium squad after birth of son
Belgian winger Jeremy Doku left the national team for a short period to attend the birth of his son, Praise, with his partner Shireen Raymond. His absence sparked commentary from journalist France Pierron, which drew a strong response from the public defending fathers’ presence at childbirth.
Doku flew back to the squad in London, arriving three hours late but accompanied by team doctor Brecht De Coninck. He is being treated for a respiratory infection with antibiotics and a short course of cortisone, and resumed light training. Staff remain cautious about his match fitness, but aim to have him available—either starting or as a substitute—for the upcoming group‑stage match against New Zealand.
