Jeremy Monga joins Manchester City, rejects Arsenal
Seventeen‑year‑old winger Jeremy Monga left Leicester City for Manchester City in the summer, signing a contract until 2031 for a reported £10 million fee plus up to £2.5 million in add‑ons. He turned down interest from Arsenal, describing the decision as a "no‑brainer" because City offered a clearer pathway to the first team and a record of success. "The main decision was probably the pathway and the club itself. They've been so successful that it was a no‑brainer when City called," Monga told BBC Sport.
Monga made his first appearance for City as a substitute in a 3‑1 friendly win over a K‑League XI at Seoul World Cup Stadium, South Korea, after the club’s coach Enzo Maresca fielded the teenager.
The transfer marks a high‑profile move for one of the Premier League’s youngest players, who previously became the third‑youngest ever to feature in a league match.
