Jeremy Strong defends method acting approach

Actor Jeremy Strong has defended his commitment to method acting, stating he does not feel the need to apologize to colleagues who may find his approach uncomfortable or overly serious. Speaking on ‘The New Yorker Radio Hour’ podcast with host David Remnick, Strong addressed how his intense immersion might affect directors and co-stars during production.

Strong, who is portraying Mark Zuckerberg in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming film ‘The Social Reckoning,’ emphasized that his goal is to ‘commit utterly to serving the material.’ While acknowledging that his methods can ‘change the molecules in the room,’ he maintained that his intentions are never to interfere with others' work, but rather to serve the production.

His approach has previously drawn mixed reactions from industry peers. Sorkin noted that Strong’s immersive performance involved treating co-stars as he imagined Zuckerberg would, while former ‘Succession’ co-star Brian Cox has described the actor's methods as ‘fucking annoying,’ though Cox also acknowledged Strong as a wonderful person to act with.
