Jeremy Strong to portray Mark Zuckerberg in ‘The Social Reckoning’
Actor Jeremy Strong has discussed his role as Mark Zuckerberg in the upcoming film ‘The Social Reckoning,’ directed by Aaron Sorkin. The film, which is set for release on October 9, serves as a follow-up to the 2010 film ‘The Social Network.’
Strong, who replaces Jesse Eisenberg in the role, revealed in a GQ interview that he personally emailed Zuckerberg to express his commitment to portraying the Meta CEO with respect and veracity. Strong noted that while Zuckerberg is a polarizing figure, he believes an actor should not approach the role with the sole intent of condemnation.
Director Aaron Sorkin explained that the recasting occurred because Eisenberg declined to return to the character, citing a desire to avoid being conflated with Zuckerberg. Strong described the challenge of playing such a high-profile figure as a significant professional undertaking.
