Jerez Airport faces schedule changes for Madrid flights

Iberia, operating through Air Nostrum, is modifying its winter flight schedule for the route between Jerez and Madrid. While the airline will maintain three daily connections, it is significantly advancing the timing of the last flights of the day. Starting in late October, the final flight from Madrid to Jerez will move from 19:40 to 15:45, and the final return flight from Jerez to Madrid will move from 21:30 to 17:40.

The schedule change has sparked political tension in the province of Cádiz. The PSOE has criticized the move as an ‘atropello’ (outrage), arguing that the new times will hinder business travelers and workers who need to complete round trips in a single day. They have called on Iberia, the Junta de Andalucía, and the Diputación de Cádiz to intervene.

In response, the Partido Popular stated that the responsibility lies with the central government to demand better schedules from Iberia, noting that the state holds a small stake in IAG, Iberia's parent company. The PP also highlighted local efforts to attract airlines like Jet2.com and manage commercial agreements to mitigate what they describe as chronic abandonment from Madrid.
