Jerez de la Frontera promotes culinary and wine heritage
Jerez de la Frontera is advancing its profile as a major culinary and viticultural hub through two significant designations. The city recently presented its status as the ‘Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2026’ in Barcelona. This presentation, attended by officials from both Jerez and Barcelona, aimed to showcase the city's culinary identity, including its wines, brandy, and cellar culture, which municipal calculations suggest has already generated an economic impact of 33.5 million euros.
Additionally, the Wine and Brandy Route of the Jerez Marco has expressed formal support for Jerez's candidacy to become the ‘Spanish Wine City 2027’. Supported by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN), the bid emphasizes the territorial dimension of the Jerez Marco, highlighting its shared history, traditional aging systems, and landscape. The candidacy has received backing from various regional administrations, the Regulatory Council of the Denominations of Origin of the Jerez Marco, and several local businesses.
