Jerez housing activists criticize Junta de Andalucía land sales
The activist group Jerez por la Vivienda has criticized the Junta de Andalucía for its decision to sell public land in the southern area of Jerez de la Frontera. The sale allows for the construction of up to 324 free-market rental homes.
The collective argues that the regional government is prioritizing real estate business over the needs of families struggling with high rents and low wages. They claim that instead of expanding the public social housing stock, the administration is facilitating private profit without guaranteeing affordable access for low-income residents.
Furthermore, the group directed criticism toward the municipal government led by Mayor María José García-Pelayo. They expressed skepticism regarding the local housing dialogue tables, suggesting that such meetings do not provide the concrete solutions needed to address the housing emergency.
