Jerez Local Police deploy drones to combat urban vandalism

The Jerez Local Police have deployed their drone unit to combat urban vandalism in the Vistalegre neighborhood and the Villas del Este youth and children's park. This aerial patrol initiative follows requests from the Security Technical Table and internal reports regarding neighborhood safety and public order.

The drones aim to monitor and prevent damage to sports facilities, street furniture—such as bins, signs, and benches—and landscaped areas. In Villas del Este, the surveillance also targets illegal gatherings. Security Councilor José Ignacio Martínez stated that the aerial control will expand to other areas of the city, providing real-time information to ground units and facilitating joint actions with the National Police.

The drone unit, created during the current mandate, has previously been utilized for flood monitoring, crowd control during major local events like the Holy Week processions and the Grand Prix, and fire prevention.
