Jerez Police Seize Van Carrying 3,330 Liters Fuel Tied to Narco Logistics

On the night of 23 June, Spanish National Police stopped a van on the CA‑410 road near Jerez de la Frontera after a patrol noticed the vehicle’s suspension was unusually low, suggesting an excessive load. The driver attempted to evade the check, prompting a police pursuit that ended with the vehicle’s interception.

Inside the van were 169 × 25‑litre canisters, totaling 3,330 litres of highly flammable gasoline, transported without the safety measures required for hazardous goods. The driver was arrested on suspicion of a catastrophic‑risk offence. Authorities linked the shipment to the “petaqueo” trade – the illegal movement of fuel used to refuel high‑speed boats employed by narcotics traffickers operating in the Strait of Gibraltar. The seizure forms part of a broader police effort to disrupt this logistical supply chain.
