Jerez to host decisive 32 km time trial in Vuelta a España

The 26th stage of the Vuelta a España will be a 32.5‑kilometre individual time trial starting in El Puerto de Santa María and finishing in the centre of Jerez on 10 September. The route, revealed by Jerez mayor María José García‑Pelayo and Vuelta director Javier Guillén, combines fast inter‑urban sections with a technically demanding urban finale that ends on Avenida Alcalde Álvaro Domecq near Plaza del Caballo. The stage commemorates the 40th anniversary of Álvaro Pino’s 1986 victory, with the former champion slated to attend.

The race is expected to draw a global television audience of more than 300 million viewers across roughly 190 countries, bringing a direct economic boost of €250 000‑€400 000 for one night from the 3 000‑person event entourage, while also highlighting Jerez’s gastronomy and wine‑harvest celebrations.
