Jermaine Pennant injured in dog attack in North London
Former Premier League footballer Jermaine Pennant required more than 50 stitches after being attacked by a German Shepherd while walking his dogs in North London. The 43-year-old, who played for clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool, was attempting to protect his American Akita, King, when the other dog turned its aggression toward him.
Pennant described the incident as “really scary,” noting that the dog held his leg for at least five seconds, causing significant pressure and four separate bite wounds to his right shin. He credited his dog, King, with saving his life by intervening to fight off the attacker.
Following the attack, Pennant was treated at a hospital and spent a night under observation. Medical professionals indicated that one of the wounds is severe enough that he may require plastic surgery. Despite the severity of the injuries, Pennant stated he does not intend to report the incident to the police.
