Jermall Charlo targets Jaime Munguia for Houston fight

Former two-division champion Jermall Charlo has expressed interest in fighting Jaime Munguia in Houston as he pursues a world title in the super middleweight division. Charlo stated that a matchup with Munguia “makes the most sense” and expressed a desire to host the event in his hometown to appeal to a large Mexican crowd.

Charlo also addressed his ongoing frustrations regarding a stalled grudge match with Caleb Plant. During an interview, Charlo labeled Plant a “quitter,” claiming that Plant has avoided making the fight happen despite the potential for significant earnings. Charlo noted that while he has moved past the personal beef, the lack of commitment from Plant has impacted his career trajectory.

As Charlo prepares to face Koen Mazoudier next weekend, he emphasized that his current focus is a “last run” to secure a championship in a third division, rather than an indication of approaching retirement.
