Jermall Charlo targets super‑middleweight world title in Australian bout

Undefeated 36‑year‑old American boxer Jermall Charlo is set to fight Koen Mazoudier in a 10‑round super‑middleweight contest at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney on July 25‑26, 2026. The match will be featured on the undercard of the Errol Spence Jr.‑Tim Tszyu junior‑middleweight showdown and will be broadcast via Amazon Prime PPV in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Charlo, a former IBF light‑middleweight and WBC middleweight champion with a 34‑0 record (23 KOs), says the 168‑pound division feels "a lot more comfortable" and offers his best chance to claim a third world title. He explained, “I’m planning to make this quarter of my career the best one,” and noted he has fought only three times since his 2020 win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko. For the fight, he has handed scouting duties to veteran trainer Ronnie Shields, allowing him to focus on conditioning.

Mazoudier, moving up two weight classes, holds a 15‑4‑1 record with six knockouts. A victory would position Charlo for future clashes with top super‑middleweight contenders such as Jaime Munguia and Caleb Plant, and keep his name in discussions with elite fighters like Canelo Álvarez and David Benavidez.
