Jerome Boateng to join Trabzonspor as assistant coach

Jerome Boateng is reportedly set to begin his professional coaching career as an assistant to Thomas Reis at Trabzonspor in the Turkish Süper Lig. According to reports from HT Spor, the 38-year-old former German World Cup winner has reached a principle agreement with the club and is expected to travel to Trabzon shortly to finalize the deal.

Thomas Reis, who recently took over the managerial role at Trabzonspor, reportedly requested Boateng's inclusion in his technical staff. This follows a successful debut for Reis, which included a 4-0 victory against Galatasaray. Boateng previously gained some coaching experience with the amateur side of LASK in Austria.

Separately, Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu is facing increased pressure following a dip in form. After being moved to the bench during the recent match against Galatasaray, the Nigerian forward was also omitted from the Nigeria national team squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
