Jeromie Whalen faces scrutiny over past legal records in Massachusetts primary
Jeromie Whalen, a 39-year-old high school journalism teacher and Democratic candidate, is challenging longtime Representative Richard Neal in a western Massachusetts primary election. Recent reports have highlighted Whalen’s past legal issues, including a 2006 arrest for misdemeanor battery in Florida involving an alleged drunken assault on a security guard and an incident involving a vehicle while under the influence.
Whalen has acknowledged having “run-ins with the law” during his younger years, attributing them to alcohol and “newfound independence.” He stated that those experiences taught him to “shape up” and “grow up.” Whalen has also questioned the legality of the leaked records, claiming they were previously sealed.
