Jerry Jones defends Micah Parsons trade to Green Bay Packers

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the trade that sent star defensive player Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers nearly one year ago. Speaking at training camp in Oxnard, California, Jones stated he has no regrets regarding the decision, comparing the strategic move to the franchise’s 1989 trade of Herschel Walker, which facilitated three Super Bowl wins in the 1990s.

Parsons was traded to the Packers on August 28, 2025, following a contract dispute. In exchange, the Cowboys received defensive tackle Kenny Clark, a 2026 first-round draft pick, and assets used to acquire New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. While Parsons earned All-Pro honors with Green Bay, he suffered a season-ending torn ACL in December 2025.

The Cowboys' defense struggled significantly in the season following the trade, allowing a league-high 30.1 points per game. Jones noted that the trade allowed the team to be more aggressive and pursue a complete makeover of the defense.
