Jerry Tardieu registers as 17th candidate for Haiti presidency
Former Pétion-Ville deputy Jerry Tardieu has officially registered as the 17th candidate for the upcoming presidential election via the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) online platform. His political platform focuses on two primary pillars: restoring national security and revitalizing the economy.
Tardieu aims to address the widespread gang control currently affecting much of the capital and strategic transit routes. His economic plan seeks to provide new opportunities for businesses and the youth. As the candidate pool grows, the CEP continues to consult with the government and civil society to establish a definitive electoral calendar.
While Tardieu emphasizes his experience and team as assets for transformation, critics point to his previous legislative tenure from 2016 to 2020, noting that his proposed laws and efforts to amend the 1987 Constitution did not result in enacted changes.
