Jersey fishing fleet begins bluefin tuna commercial trial

Jersey's commercial fishing fleet has commenced a new trial involving the landing of bluefin tuna. Following the acquisition of extra quota from the UK, the trial is designed to improve scientific understanding of the species.

On the first day of the trial, four boats successfully landed tuna, with individual specimens weighing between 40 and 80 kg. These fish are scheduled to be sold locally through various outlets, including restaurants, supermarkets, and merchants.
