Jersey implements reforms to enhance financial services competitiveness
Jersey is introducing several regulatory and operational reforms aimed at strengthening its position as an international finance centre. Treasury Minister Senator Alan Maclean announced a new initiative to revamp Revenue Jersey, which will include a dedicated Financial and Related Professional Services (FRPS) unit. This initiative, part of the ‘Time to Win’ programme, seeks to improve communication, provide greater specialist expertise, and remove barriers for businesses to support sustainable economic growth.
In a parallel development, the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) has issued new guidance regarding limited liability companies (LLCs). These updates provide greater flexibility by allowing LLCs to act as trustees and participate in specified financial services activities. The changes also remove previous restrictions that limited LLCs to financially sophisticated investors. Jersey Finance has welcomed these measures, stating they provide advisers with more options for cross-border structuring and help the island remain responsive to evolving international market requirements.
