Jersey International Pétanque Open attracts 130 players from 37 clubs
More than 130 pétanque players from across Europe gathered in St Helier for the fifth annual International Open hosted by Liberation Pétanque Club. The tournament featured competitors from 37 clubs representing France, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, England, Scotland, Ireland, Jersey and Alderney, highlighting the event’s growing reputation in the British Isles.
In the singles competition, France’s Jeremy Le Marchand won the title, defeating England’s Steve Daykin, while former world champion Julian Lamour of France took third place. The doubles crown went to the French‑Belgian pair Julian Lamour and Patrick Neuville. Organiser Toby Northern praised the high standard of play and the friendly atmosphere, noting plans to welcome participants back for next year’s event.
