Jersey Shore faces high rip current risk as August beach forecast warns swimmers
The National Weather Service issued a beach forecast for the Jersey Shore on Monday, Aug. 3, highlighting a high risk of life‑threatening rip currents, small‑craft advisories, and southwest winds of 15‑25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Waves were expected to reach 3‑6 feet and sea temperatures between 74°‑80°F.
For Tuesday, Aug. 4, the forecast indicated a moderate rip current risk, with calmer northeast winds of 4‑9 mph, waves of 2‑4 feet and a very high UV index of 9. Both days included tide times for multiple inlets and a chance of showers later in the week.
