Armenian Saint James Monastery in Jerusalem Vandalized by Six Jewish Israelis

Six Jewish Israelis – five minors and one adult – were detained after a coordinated attack on the Saint James Monastery, an Armenian Apostolic Church site in Jerusalem’s Old City. The group struck the monastery’s entrance, spat at the building, hurled stones, and shouted insults at an Armenian woman who was filming the incident, including the phrase “Wracaj do środka, córko dziwki!”. Police arrested the six on the night of 1 August, placed three in temporary custody and released the others on bail.

The assault is part of a pattern of anti‑Christian hostility reported in Israel, where churches and clergy have increasingly faced verbal and physical aggression. Israeli authorities said they treat all forms of religious‑motivated violence seriously and will pursue full investigations to identify and prosecute the perpetrators. The incident has drawn condemnation on social media and renewed calls for inter‑faith respect in the contested city.
