Jerusalem International Institution calls for Al-Aqsa Mosque protests

The Jerusalem International Institution has issued a call for global action following increased violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. In response to rising tensions during the Sukkot holiday, the institution has declared Friday, October 2, 2026, as a “day of support and anger for Al-Aqsa.”

The declaration urges Palestinians to pray at the mosque and its surrounding areas, while calling on the Islamic world to organize demonstrations. The institution expressed concern over efforts to change the historical and religious status of the site, alleging plans to divide the mosque between Muslims and Jews.

Reports indicate that these tensions are linked to increased settler activity and political support from Israeli officials, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The institution has called upon Arab and Muslim leaders to protect holy sites and reconsider normalization processes in light of these developments.
