Jerusalem students reflect on peace and the legacy of Saint Francis

Students at the Terra Santa School in Jerusalem have engaged in periods of reflection, marking both the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis and the three-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks.

During commemorative events held at the school and the San Salvatore parish church, students shared personal experiences and prayers. The reflections highlighted the contrast between the peaceful legacy of Saint Francis and the recent history of conflict, including memories of missiles and loud noises experienced by the children.

During a homily, a student questioned why world leaders have not traveled to seek peace as Saint Francis did, noting that modern technology should make such efforts easier. The discussion emphasized the desire for peace among the youth in Jerusalem and their continued thoughts for their peers in Gaza.
