Jes Staley admits sharing confidential bank data with Jeffrey Epstein

The U.S. House Oversight Committee has released transcripts from a closed-door interview with Jes Staley, the former executive of JPMorgan Chase and former CEO of Barclays. During the July 24 interview, Staley admitted to sharing confidential and market-sensitive information with the late Jeffrey Epstein.

Staley testified that he disclosed details regarding JPMorgan’s communications with the Federal Reserve during the 2008 financial crisis, including a figure of $44 billion in private bank inflows over a two-week period. He also admitted to sharing information about his own compensation, pending deals, and client relationships. Staley defended these actions, stating he believed he had the authority to share such information when appropriate.

The investigation is part of a broader congressional probe into Epstein’s ties to business and political elites. While Staley has maintained a close professional relationship with Epstein and denied knowledge of his crimes, the transcripts reveal intense questioning regarding allegations of sexual assault and controversial email exchanges involving Epstein’s associates.
