Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area vehicle incident
A photograph of a black Nissan Navara pickup truck parked in the bed of the Střední Opava river has sparked public outrage. The vehicle was captured within the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area, an incident highlighted by the association Společnost přátel Jeseníků on social media.
Authorities have noted the difficulty in pursuing the matter. The Agency for Nature and Landscape Protection (AOPK) stated that because the vehicle's registration number is not visible in the photo, they cannot identify the owner to issue a fine. Officials noted that the riverbed was reshaped by floods two years ago, which may cause the exposed bottom to resemble a ford during periods of low water flow.
The police in Vrbno pod Pradědem are investigating the incident, which may involve a violation of traffic signs. If identified, the offenders could face administrative fines of up to 2,000 CZK.
