Jesi expands Housing First initiative for homeless residents

The Municipality of Jesi, Asp Ambito 9, and Caritas have expanded the ‘Housing First’ initiative, which provides housing as a primary tool for social inclusion and dignity for people experiencing extreme poverty.

Two new apartments in a building on Via Roma were recently handed over to four previously homeless individuals. This expansion brings the total number of available housing units under the program to six, serving a total of 11 people. The renovation of these apartments was funded by approximately 150,000 euros from the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), while Caritas provided furnishings using recycled furniture.

Project leaders noted that the initiative is unique within the region for its intensive focus on extreme poverty. The program is designed to provide a stable starting point from which participants can begin a continuous support process to reintegrate into society through work and civil coexistence.
