Jesi expands video surveillance to enhance urban security

The municipality of Jesi is expanding its urban video surveillance network to enhance public safety and prevent petty crime, vandalism, and urban decay. The local government has approved a security pact to be signed with the Prefecture of Ancona, which will allow the city to apply for state funding dedicated to surveillance upgrades.

New cameras are planned for several sensitive areas, including the parking lot behind the railway station on via Gherardi, the Mercantini parking lot in Viale della Vittoria, and the courtyard near Piazza Bendia. Additionally, by 2026, the municipality intends to use its own resources to install license plate recognition cameras at six key entry and exit points of the city: via Ancona, via Fontedamo, via Marconi, via Paradiso, via Roma, and via San Marcello.

Jesi currently utilizes a network of cameras connected to the Local Police operational center, covering main access roads and the historic center. Existing surveillance locations include via del Lavatoio, the Sima gallery area, via Mazzini, piazzale dei Partigiani, and via del Torrio.
