Jesi to begin designing new skate park after facility dismantled
The municipality of Jesi has announced that the design process for a new skate park will begin in September. Samuele Animali, the Councilor for Sport, stated that funding has been secured and that the project is now included in the works plan.
The previous skate park located in via del Burrone was dismantled because the structure had become dangerous due to age and lack of maintenance. Animali noted that previous attempts to secure private sponsorship and specific public grants failed because the existing facilities did not meet the requirements of certain available tenders.
The dismantling of the facility has faced criticism from the opposition group 'Per Jesi' and councilor Matteo Sorana. They argued that the lack of maintenance caused significant inconvenience for young residents, leading to the unauthorized use of skateboards and BMX bikes in the city center, including Piazza Pergolesi. The opposition has called for better long-term urban planning and more consistent maintenance of small-scale public sports facilities to avoid such emergencies.
