Jesús Aguirre re-elected President of Andalusian Parliament; PSOE appoints Fernando López Gil as vice president

Jesús Aguirre, the former health minister and long‑time PP parliamentarian, was re‑elected president of the Andalusian Parliament after a two‑round vote. He secured 53 votes against 8 for Begoña Iza, while Vox, PSOE and Por Andalucía abstained. No agreement with Vox was reached, and Aguirre now presides over a more fragmented chamber.

The PSOE has put forward deputy Fernando López Gil, a veteran Andalusian politician, to become one of the vice presidents on the Parliament’s Board for the new legislative term. His exact rank will depend on any coalition arrangement with the PP and Vox. The party also named Olga Manzano as a secretary and appointed María Márquez and Ángeles Férriz as deputy spokespersons.
