Jesús Calleja brings Nepalese family to Spain

Spanish TV presenter Jesús Calleja met a seven‑year‑old Nepali boy named Ganesh in Kathmandu in the late 1990s. After rescuing Ganesh from severe cerebral tuberculosis and bringing him to León, Spain, Calleja acted as his de‑facto father and later facilitated the arrival of Ganesh’s ailing friend Sunesh and Sunesh’s sister Sundari. The three young people were medically treated and eventually settled in Spain, where Ganesh now works for Calleja’s production company, Zanskar Producciones, and has started his own family.

Calleja’s long‑term support enabled the full reunification of Ganesh’s biological family in Spain, turning a chance encounter in the Himalayas into a permanent cross‑cultural family link.
