Jesús Calleja leads adventure expedition to the Maldives with TV personalities

Spanish TV explorer Jesús Calleja took three companions—Laura Madrueño, Montoya and Lorena Castell—on a televised expedition to the Maldives. The group, dubbed “Universo Calleja,” began on the remote island of Kuda Rah, where they prepared for a series of underwater experiences, including scuba‑diving baptisms and a final face‑to‑face encounter with a tiger shark.

The itinerary also featured parasailing, a boat‑based base for the expedition, visits to the local community on Ukulhas island, and immersion among giant manta rays. The programme highlighted the Maldives’ turquoise waters, vibrant coral reefs and abundant marine life.

Travel experts note that the best time to enjoy such activities aligns with the Maldives’ monsoon transition periods, when water visibility is high and seas are calmer. Understanding the southwest (wet) and northeast (dry) monsoons helps visitors plan dives, snorkeling trips and island excursions more effectively.
