Jesús Castillo joins Espérance de Tunis from Universitario

Peruvian midfielder Jesús Castillo has officially joined the Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis. The 25-year-old arrives to reinforce the defensive midfield position following the departure of Onuche Ogbelu, as coach Laurențiu Reghecampf seeks to restructure the squad after two seasons without a local championship.

Castillo, who previously played for Gil Vicente in Portugal, joins from Universitario de Deportes. While the exact total transfer fee has not been disclosed, reports indicate that Espérance acquired 80% of the player's economic rights for approximately $750,000, with Universitario retaining a 20% stake for future operations. Castillo has already passed medical examinations and participated in initial training sessions with his new teammates.
