Jesús Daniel Razo proposes reforms to combat real estate fraud

Deputy Jesús Daniel Razo Córdova has introduced a legislative initiative to reform the General Law of State Assets in Mexico. The proposal aims to strengthen the legal framework to protect public heritage from real estate fraud and irregular land occupations.

Razo, representing the Morena party, noted that Baja California is facing an increasing problem of land invasions and a crisis in the formal real estate sector. The initiative seeks to close legal loopholes that allow for the unauthorized seizure of national property by groups exploiting current legal mechanisms.

The reform proposes establishing clearer rules for asset valuation, objective criteria for exceptions to public bidding, and better regulation of conflicts of interest. It also calls for the creation of public registries for operations involving payment in kind to ensure transparency and accountability.
