Jesús David Delgado Claims Third Straight Spanish 400m Hurdles Crown

At the Spanish Athletics Championships in Málaga (24‑26 July 2026), Jesús David Delgado of Tenerife CajaCanarias defended his 400‑metre hurdles title, winning gold for the third consecutive year with a time of 49.73 seconds despite strong wind. His victory confirmed his status as Spain’s leading hurdler.

The Tenerife CajaCanarias squad collected three medals overall – Delgado’s gold and bronzes from Yasiel Brayan Sotero in discus and Pablo Gámez in the decathlon – and posted several personal bests. Delgado will now turn his focus to the European Championships in Birmingham.

The same competition highlighted another Canary Islands success: sailor Javier Padrón Torrent, sailing with the all‑Canarian HSN Sailing Team, secured a silver medal at the European J70 class championship in Barcelona.
