Jesús Enrique Hernández, former Culiacán mayor, dies at 82

Jesús Enrique Hernández Chávez, a prominent Mexican politician known as "Chuquiqui," has died at the age of 82 following a long illness. He was a significant figure in Sinaloa's political landscape, having served as the mayor of Culiacán and the state president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

His extensive career included roles as a federal deputy, a local deputy in two legislatures of the Sinaloa Congress, and president of the Political Coordination Board of Sinaloa. He also held various administrative and legislative positions, including serving as the director general of the Institute of Social Security and Services for Education Workers of Sinaloa and as a Public Prosecutor in Los Mochis.

National PRI leader Alejandro Moreno expressed condolences, describing him as a committed party member who left a significant mark on his region. The PRI Sinaloa state committee also recognized his legacy, noting his contributions to the development of political institutions in the state.
