Jess Kelly faces mixed reactions after The Voice Australia audition

Jess Kelly, the nephew of Australian music legend John Farnham, recently auditioned for The Voice Australia. Despite judges Richard Marx and Kate Miller-Heidke noting his striking vocal resemblance to his uncle, none of the coaches turned their chairs during his performance of ‘When the War Is Over’ by Cold Chisel.

Kelly described the comparison to his uncle as both a “massive compliment” and “equally terrifying.” While the lack of chair turns drew criticism from viewers regarding the show's format and the judges' perceived coldness, Kelly expressed gratitude for the public support. He stated that simply having the opportunity to stand on the stage was a “dream come true.”

Kelly, a 38-year-old cabinet maker from Queensland, plans to release two acoustic cover songs on August 28 to introduce himself as an artist.
