Jesús Mustienes, mountaineering pioneer in Aragón, dies

Jesús Mustienes, a pioneer of mountaineering in Aragón, has passed away. Born in Zaragoza in 1941, Mustienes was a key figure in the legendary generation of climbers that developed the sport in the region during the 1950s.

Mustienes was an active member of the Club de Montaña Nabaín in Boltaña and remained a dedicated climber until his later years. His career included significant contributions to the climbing community in the Pyrenees and the Alps. In 2024, he was honored with the Nabaín Award for Mountaineering Values in recognition of his lifelong commitment and passion for the sport.
