Ixtapaluca begins construction of waste-to-energy plant

Construction has begun on a new Integral Waste Center in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, designed to transform urban solid waste into fuel pellets. The project involves a private investment of 140 million euros and is expected to process approximately 1,200 tons of waste daily while creating 200 direct jobs.

The facility will produce hard pellets, a type of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) intended for industrial use in high-temperature processes such as cement manufacturing. These pellets are slated for export to Germany to be used in CEMEX's ten European plants, meeting European Union environmental standards. The project utilizes patented technology from the German company Alengo and will be operated by Tecnosilicatos de México and TECSAT.

In a separate regional development, Mariana Rodríguez Cantú, head of AMAR a Nuevo León, announced the second edition of the 'Mercado Hecho en Nuevo León: Mujeres que Inspiran' event. Scheduled for September 19 and 20 at Parque Fundidora, the initiative aims to support female entrepreneurs by providing a commercial space and training in finance, marketing, and administration.
