Jesse Eisenberg declines role in Aaron Sorkin film

Actor Jesse Eisenberg has explained his decision to decline returning as Mark Zuckerberg for Aaron Sorkin’s new film, ‘The Social Reckoning’. Although Eisenberg praised the script and expressed respect for Sorkin, he stated he did not want to be associated with the tech figure again or spend a year promoting a subject he has no personal interest in.

Eisenberg noted that he is not a user of the social media platforms discussed in the film and does not wish to act as a representative for that technology. He clarified that despite his appearance, he does not feel part of the tech world.

Sorkin admitted he was surprised by the refusal, having attempted to convince the actor over a three-day period. Jeremy Strong has taken over the role of Zuckerberg. While the 2010 film ‘The Social Network’ focused on the creation of Facebook, the new production explores the negative impacts of social media based on ‘The Facebook Files’ reporting.
