Jesse Eisenberg's Musical Film 'The Debut' Releases First Trailer

A24 has released the first trailer for Jesse Eisenberg’s new musical film, The Debut. The movie, directed and written by Eisenberg, stars Julianne Moore as Mona Friedman, a shy housewife who becomes a fervent method actor after landing a small part in a community‑theater production. Paul Giamatti plays the domineering director, while the cast also includes Halle Bailey, Bernadette Peters and others.

The official synopsis describes the story as a “war” between the actress and the director over artistic integrity. Eisenberg, who previously directed When You Finish Saving the World (2022) and A Real Pain (2025), said the film repurposes music he wrote fifteen years ago. No release date has been announced yet.
