Jesse Eisenberg’s ‘The Debut’ gains awards momentum

Jesse Eisenberg’s new comedy-drama, ‘The Debut’, is gaining significant momentum in the awards season circuit. Following its presence at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was highlighted as a strong contender for the People’s Choice Award, the film has been selected as the opening night feature for the Middleburg Film Festival.

Starring Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, the film follows Mona Friedman, a housewife who joins a local community theater production. After unexpectedly inheriting a lead role, she undergoes a transformative and intense descent into the world of method acting under the direction of Jerry, played by Giamatti.

Eisenberg serves as both writer and director for the project. The film is expected to reach theaters in Portugal by January 2027.
