Jesse Klaver willing to discuss budget with minority coalition

Jesse Klaver, leader of the PRO party, has expressed a willingness to negotiate with the current minority coalition regarding next year's budget, despite criticizing the government's recent conduct. Speaking at a party meeting in Utrecht, Klaver described the budget negotiations as a “mess” characterized by a lack of direction and endless internal disputes between coalition members rather than with the opposition.

Klaver stated that for cooperation to occur, the cabinet must choose a left-leaning path by removing proposed cuts to social security and increasing taxes on the wealthiest citizens. He warned that the current minority coalition, consisting of D66, CDA, and VVD, has created a state of “permanent formation,” which he described as “extremely worrying.”

The coalition currently lacks a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate to pass the budget. Previous attempts to secure support from both left-wing and right-wing opposition parties have been unsuccessful.
