Jessica Anaid wins Malcolm Lowry Young Novel Prize

Jessica Anaid Hernández Jiménez has been awarded the 2026 Malcolm Lowry Fine Arts Young Novel Prize for her work, ‘Esa bala que siempre termina por impactarme’. The award was presented by the Mexican Secretariat of Culture and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), in collaboration with the Government of Morelos.

The winning novel explores the lives of three women connected by themes of disappearance, violence, and drug trafficking. The narrative follows Alejandra, a 16-year-old who disappears after a relationship with a drug trafficker; Ana, a writer who becomes involved with a criminal leader; and Alejandra’s mother, who recounts her experiences of motherhood and her search for her daughter.
