Jessica Biel to executive produce '7th Heaven' reboot

Jessica Biel is set to executive produce a reboot of the classic series '7th Heaven' through her production banner, Iron Ocean, in partnership with CBS Studios. The actress, who played Mary Camden in the original series, intends to modernize the family drama by addressing contemporary issues more directly.

Biel stated that the new iteration will tackle topics such as technology-based challenges, school issues, bullying, drugs, and alcohol in a realistic manner. While the original series touched on these subjects, Biel noted that previous limitations regarding audience expectations will be less restrictive in this version. She aims to maintain the show's original DNA as family-friendly content while being less restrained in its storytelling.

Biel will not be reprising her acting role, choosing instead to focus on her role as an executive producer. She explained that her goal is to cultivate a 'safe space' on set to allow actors to be creative and emotionally vulnerable, which she finds essential for the intense emotional content of her current projects.
