Jessica Chastain stars in new horror teaser ‘Other Mommy’

A new teaser has been released for the supernatural horror film ‘Other Mommy’, starring Jessica Chastain. Directed by Rob Savage and produced by James Wan and others, the film is based on the book ‘Incidents Around the House’ by Josh Malerman.

The plot follows eight-year-old Bela, whose life is disrupted by a sinister entity that haunts her and takes the form of a mother figure. The entity, which Bela calls ‘Other Mommy’, becomes increasingly aggressive after being rejected by the child.

During a recent Q&A at the Universal Lot, Chastain shared details regarding her character's unsettling appearance. She noted that the character's creepy smile was achieved through performance and a glued-on element rather than extensive prosthetics, aiming to convey tension through the physical strain of holding the expression. Chastain recounted an anecdote where a child in a makeup trailer reacted with a scream to her practice of the character's facial expressions.

The film is distributed by Universal Pictures and is scheduled for theatrical release in October 2026.
