Jessica Chastain stars in psychological horror film Other Mommy

The upcoming horror film ‘Other Mommy’, based on Josh Malerman’s novel ‘Incidents Around the House’, focuses on a supernatural entity that takes the form of a doppelgänger to torment a young girl named Bela. Starring Jessica Chastain in dual roles, the film explores the psychological terror of a child losing trust in their primary protector.

Director Rob Savage expressed his ambition for the film’s central entity to become a modern horror icon in the vein of Freddy Krueger or Michael Myers. He described the character as a shape-shifting presence designed to manipulate both the characters and the audience. Producer James Wan noted that the entity's shifting nature allowed for creative freedom in developing its horror elements.

Chastain emphasized that the film relies on psychological dread rather than traditional jump scares, centering the fear on the instability of a child's safe harbor. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on October 9.
