Jessica Killin wins Colorado's 5th Congressional District seat

Democrat Jessica Killin has won the election for Colorado's 5th Congressional District, defeating Republican incumbent Jeff Crank. The Associated Press declared Killin the winner as she led the race with approximately 50.6% of the vote to Crank's 46%, while Libertarian candidate Mark Elworth Jr. received 1.8%.

This victory marks a significant political shift, as the 5th District has not elected a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 54 years since its creation. Previously considered a Republican stronghold, the district has trended toward Democrats in recent years. The contest was noted as one of the most expensive congressional races in Colorado this year.

Killin is a former Army captain and former executive at USAA. She previously served as chief of staff to second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Crank, a former congressional aide and former leader of the Colorado chapter of Americans for Prosperity, was seeking a second term.
