Jessica Lange considers retirement after five-decade career

Actress Jessica Lange has indicated that she may be approaching the end of her acting career. In recent interviews, the 77-year-old, two-time Oscar winner expressed that her role in the film adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day's Journey into Night” might serve as a fitting conclusion to her professional journey.

Lange noted that the current film industry has changed significantly, describing it as becoming more corporate and less personal than the “golden age” she experienced between the late 1960s and early 1980s. She expressed frustration with the difficulty of realizing projects that truly interest her and noted a lack of substantial roles for women of her age.

While she has not officially announced her retirement, Lange mentioned that while there are long-standing projects in development, she is uncertain if they will ever come to fruition. She stated her desire to be remembered as an “honest actress.”
