Jessica Schilder wins third consecutive European shot put title

Dutch athlete Jessica Schilder has secured her third consecutive European title in shot put at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Schilder achieved the gold medal with a throw of 20.73 meters.

Fellow Dutch athlete Jorinde van Klinken took the silver medal with a personal record of 19.64 meters, while German Olympic champion Yemisi Mabry earned the bronze with a distance of 19.50 meters. With this victory, Schilder becomes the first Dutch athlete, male or female, to win three consecutive European titles in a single discipline.

Schilder managed the win despite competing with an inflamed index finger, for which she reportedly used painkillers to manage the discomfort during the competition.
